Plant a Tree Campaign
We're thrilled to announce a new partnership with Treeapp! Through our 'Plant a Tree Campaign,' we're enhancing environmental sustainability and supporting local communities.
EWRS pledges to plant one tree for every position we fill. Treeapp, a global tree planting organisation, operates sites worldwide, planting over 250 species of trees across five continents. Their sustainable approach has earned them recognition from Sir David Attenborough and international news outlets.
We’re investing in a private forest in Indonesia, focusing on growing mangrove trees with Treeapp's expertise. Over the past three decades, Indonesia has lost over 40% of its mangrove forests, leading to increased flooding and natural water-related disasters.
Mangrove estuaries are crucial natural barriers for erosion control, protecting lands during tropical storms and flooding. These reforestation efforts also benefit around 300 species of tropical birds and over 500 species of coral reefs.
Treeapp works directly with local planting communities and NGOs to ensure cost-effective and impactful reforestation, maximising positive environmental, social, and economic impacts.
We're excited to embark on this journey with Treeapp, leveraging their expertise to protect and restore the environment in Indonesia and beyond. The project kicks off with the planting of 37,338 trees in our Group's private forest.
