Our client is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Press Setter Operator to join the Press Shop team at Chilton.

This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a strong background in operating hydraulic and power presses, particularly AMADA, AIDA, or similar machines ranging from 90 to 200 tons

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and maintain hydraulic and power presses to produce components to high-quality standards.
  • Independently change tooling and set machines for different jobs as per production requirements.
  • Perform first-off and in-process checks using general measuring equipment including verniers, protractors, set squares, etc.
  • Work accurately from engineering drawings, with strong understanding of both first and third angle projection.
  • Ensure all parts meet dimensional and quality requirements before and during production runs.
  • Conduct routine safety and quality checks, and ensure machinery is running efficiently and safely.
  • Record production information and report any non-conformances or machine issues promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area, in line with company 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Comply with all health and safety standards and wear appropriate PPE at all times.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience operating and setting hydraulic and mechanical presses, ideally AMADA or AIDA (or similar).
  • Experience with presses in the 90 to 200-ton range.
  • Confident in using measuring equipment such as verniers, protractors, and set squares.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, with full understanding of both first and third angle projection.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised, managing your own setup, operation, and quality checks.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
  • Good physical condition and ability to perform manual handling tasks safely.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Apprenticeship or formal qualification in Engineering or Manufacturing (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).

Working Hours:

  • Start on Dayshift for training and induction.
  • Move to 2-shift rotation (details of shift times will be provided).
